Paediatric Ultrasound Scans

For children under 16 years of age

Paediatric (Child) Ultrasound is a common ultrasound examination. At East Anglia Ultrasound Services we understand the anxiety that our little clients may experience and we recognize how important it is to make their ultrasound appointment as pleasant as possible.
Our Specialist Sonographers and other members of staff are devoted to the provision of an eminent diagnostic service.
Paediatric Ultrasound is a simple non-invasive test that uses sound waves to give us insight about the internal organs and other parts of the body.
Ultrasound is a safe, painless, non-invasive test that cannot be heard and cannot be felt by your child.

How do I help my child prepare for an ultrasound?

Despite the fact that an ultrasound is painless, your little one may be nervous about undergoing an unknown for them procedure. If your child is old enough to understand, you can help alleviate any anxiety by explaining what will happen during the ultrasound. They are more than welcome to bring a toy or blanket from home to provide comfort during the scan. In addition to that, depending on which part of your child’s body is being scanned, electronic games or other hand-held devices can provide a distraction during the procedure. Of course, you should let your child know that you will be right there the entire time to provide reassurance and support.

A Paediatric ultrasound provides an excellent opportunity for your child’s doctor to provide good management and care when diagnosed early.
